The Battle on Sand Is Back The beach race anticipated by vintage bike riders and speed freaks all over Japan made a comeback. It was without an audience and the sky looked threatening but the heated drama that unfolded brushed that away.
Four choppers with H-D’s golden-era OHV motor, a knucklehead, a pan, a generator shovel and a cone, made a 2,800 miles (4,500 km) long round trip to the sacred land. Here is photographer Ken Nagahara’s record of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that he visited this summer with his 48 FL and his friends.
