[TWEAKERS RACING at SCTA / BNI BONNEVILLE SPEED WEEK 2023]


FREEWHEELERSの安井 篤と青森三沢DUSTERS主幹・坂本祥治を双頭とするレーシングチームTWEAKERSが、去る8月に開催されたSCTA/BNI Bonneville Speed Weekにて、計4つの世界最速記録を更新する快挙を成し遂げた。この特集では2台のレコードブレイカーを含むTWEAKERS RACINGの5台のレーサーを紹介すると共に、足かけ4年に及ぶ“世界最速”への軌跡を安井が総括する。


Tweakers is a racing team led by Atsushi Yasui of Freewheelers and Yoshiharu Sakamoto, the leader of Misawa, Aomori’s Dusters. At the SCTA/BNI Bonneville Speed Week this past August, they set a total of 4 new world speed records. In this feature, we take a closer look at 5 racing bikes from Tweakers Racing, including the two record-breaking machines, and Yasui traces his 4-year journey to becoming the world’s fastest.

The American Honda
垂涎なるヴィンテージHondaの世界


1950年代以降、マン島TTや世界GPへの参戦を足掛かりとしながら次世代を担う高性能市販車を相次いで発売したHonda。
特に60年代当時、二輪界の頂点に君臨していた英国車を凌駕すべく、Hondaが生み出した意欲的かつ挑戦的なメカニズムを持つ並列2気筒モデルは、現在でも世界中のエンスージャストたちに愛され続けている。今回は、アメリカで発見されたマニア垂涎のYOSHIMURA-HONDA CB72を筆頭に、CB750登場前夜までのHonda パラレルツインにフォーカスする。



From the 1950s, while competing in events such as the Isle of Man TT and the World GP, Honda released high-performance commercial models that would lead the next generation of motorcycles. The parallel two-cylinder machines Honda released in the ‘60s are especially loved by enthusiasts. Designed to compete with the British bikes that dominated the motorcycle market, these two-cylinder machines included ambitious and innovative engineering. In this special feature, we focus on the parallel twins produced by Honda up to the eve of the CB750's release, including a Yoshimura-Honda CB72 discovered in the US that maniacs will drool over.
